As I dive into my cloud learning journey on AWS Skill Builder, the sheer number of available tools felt overwhelming at first. However, after completing the core modules, I realized that mastering the AWS ecosystem comes down to understanding three foundational pillars: Compute, Storage, and Databases. [1 ]
Here is my quick breakdown of the core services that act as the building blocks for almost any cloud architecture:
  1. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud): Think of this as your virtual computer in the cloud. Instead of buying hardware, you spin up an EC2 instance in seconds, choosing exactly how much RAM and CPU power your application needs.
  2. Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service): This is the cloud’s giant, highly secure filing cabinet. It is an object storage service perfect for saving static files like website images, videos, backups, and user uploads. It is incredibly scalable and cost-effective.
  3. Amazon RDS (Relational Database Service): Setting up databases manually is tedious. RDS automates the hardware provisioning, database setup, and backups for popular engines like MySQL and PostgreSQL, letting you focus on writing code.
