My learnings with AWS New Voice Program

 

Happy to share I successfully completed AWS New Voice Program and got my graduation badge today. This program is an absolute perk of being an AWS Community Builder.

 

 

It is a 5-week public speaking training program which prepares us to speak with impact. Our trainer Meridith Grundei ✨  along with Gary  Grundei helped us throughout this program to improve the art of public speaking.

I was able to deliver two public speaking sessions after the start of cohort training activity. The first session was a KIRO workshop conducted for AWS Student Builders Community at Jeppiar Engineering College, Chennai. It was conducted on 22-SEP-2026. The second session was an AWS event organized by AWS UG women-in-tech India, Genesys was the venue sponsor for the event. The event was held on 10-OCT-2026.

 

 

"Build powerful Introduction" helped me to use a powerful quote as an introduction for the topic during my recent technical session at AWS UG for Women In Tech India  meetup in Chennai on 10-OCT-2026 as a speaker for the topic "FAIR Data for Agentic AI". Generally, introduction slide will be the first slide in our presentation, however after attending this session I introduced myself and my topic after engaging with audience about need to understand the session topic.

 

I was able to see the response from the audience when I quoted a finding from a famous journal. It hooked the audience to our session and learn more on what to do next.

 

We were taught to introduce ourselves for our credibility. This helped me give a formal introduction to my professional experience.

 

I was able to structure my thoughts with 3 key points for the session. I prepared visuals keeping the structure in mind. Finally, I closed the session with Key takeaways from the session and impact closure slide.

 

I have already delivered this session few months back at AWS community Day Chennai 2026 AWS event. However, i felt the current session was more impactful following the guidelines from the AWS New voice program.

I delivered this workshop after attending first session from AWS NEW Voice Program. I made me think about the audience I am going to deliver.

 

"Know your Audience" helped me to tailor-make my session during the AWS KIRO workshop. Initially I prepared my session for general audience. After attending the training program, I realized my audience will enthusiastic students. So, I tailor-made my visuals, session content and selected the workshop appropriate to the students.

 

I changed my visuals to be simple and suitable for students and ensured to introduce it with analogy. I selected workshop in level 200, suitable for all categories of students. I also had a local set up in my personal laptop as a backup to demonstrate the workshop to the students during the session if required. This helped me show case the topic to the stduents with ease.
