Join my crazy AWS Summit Bengaluru 2026 journey! From grabbing early bird swags to insane networking with the AWS community, here's everything that went down.

Founder & Director @ OmniAi Global Solutions | AWS UG Kolkata Leader, AWS Community Builder

TL;DR / Key Takeaways

  • Networking is the real MVP: Tech is great, but building 1-to-1 connections with AWS Heroes, Community Builders, and UG Leaders is what truly upgrades your career.
  • The early bird gets the swag: Waking up at 4 AM pays off! Getting to the venue before the gates open is the only way to secure limited-edition goodies and beat the massive registration queues.
  • AI took over the show: This year was heavily focused on Artificial Intelligence, and seeing how tools like Kiro have evolved was absolutely mind-blowing.

What Actually Happens at AWS Summit Bengaluru?

If you have never been, picture a massive festival but for cloud geeks, developers, and founders. It is packed with keynote sessions, deep-dive tech tracks, and massive expo zones.
But it’s not just about sitting in a dark room watching PowerPoint slides. The real magic happens in the Developer Lounge and the Expo Area. This year, the focus heavily shifted towards AI. Honestly, seeing how much AI content was packed into the sessions and watching how "Kiro" has evolved and is being used by everyone was totally insane.

Why The AWS Community is Your Biggest Asset

A little background about me: I’m Soumyadeep, and I’ve been organizing meetups for AWS User Group Kolkata for over 6 years now. I started my journey back in 2017 as a quiet attendee. By 2018, I became a volunteer, and after Covid hit, I took the initiative to push our local meetups even further. This year, I also got selected for the AWS Community Builders program!
Why am I telling you this? Because none of this growth would have happened if I just sat at home reading docs. The community pushes you. Last year, I was busy exploring the sponsor booths. This year, my sole mission was 1-to-1 networking.
"Meeting people who already knew my name from the community—even though we were meeting face-to-face for the very first time—pushed my excitement to a whole new level. That is the power of building in public."

April 20: The Journey from Kolkata to Bengaluru

I was so hyped up that I woke up at 6 AM flat. I couldn't go back to sleep, so I double-checked all my luggage and documents. I started my journey from home at 9:15 AM and reached the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport by 9:45 AM. I had an afternoon flight and finally landed at Kempegowda International Airport in the evening.
From the airport, it took me a solid 1.5 hours in an Uber to reach my hotel in Whitefield. I freshened up, crashed for a bit, and woke up around 9 PM. I went outside hunting for a local food store, found one making fresh Idli and Dosa, and had a great dinner. Back in the hotel, the excitement of the trip kept me totally awake. I tossed and turned and finally managed to sleep around 3:44 AM!

Woke up at 7:42 AM, checked my emails and Slack workspaces, and got the best surprise. Ridhima invited me to meet all the AWS User Group Leaders, Heroes, employees, and Cloud Captains before the main summit. A massive thanks to Bhuvaneswari Subramani for supporting me and coordinating this! I was so hooked on that local store that I went back there to eat Dosa for both breakfast and lunch.

During the summit, I also got the amazing opportunity to have multiple sit-down chats with Ridhima Kapoor, the Sr. Community Manager at AWS. We discussed so many things about how we can take our local communities to the next level. The absolute highlight of our conversation was about the AWS Women in Tech initiative. We both came to a solid point that we really need to streamline the upcoming meetups for both AWS UG Kolkata and Women in Tech Kolkata to make a bigger, more inclusive impact. We brainstormed a bunch of other community stuff too, and honestly, her vision and support for the community are just inspiring!

In the evening, I booked a Rapido bike. I realized the venue was quite far—it took me a whole hour to reach! First, I met Ridhima, and then all our precious user group fellows. It was amazing having actual 1-to-1 conversations. A lot of folks who missed the AWS Community Day Kolkata 2025 showed huge interest in attending the next one. I also met a few YouTube influencers and had a solid chat. We took tons of pictures, had dinner, and I left by 9:30 PM, reaching my hotel at 10:45 PM. Again, I couldn't sleep because of the Day 1 excitement!

April 22: Day 1 Chaos, Swags, and Networking

The day I had been waiting for finally arrived! Woke up at 4 AM, checked pending emails, and packed essentials like my charger, power bank, and water bottle. I left Whitefield at 6 AM, took a 10-minute ride to the nearest metro, and travelled to Nallur Halli station. From there, it was a quick 5-minute walk to the venue. When I reached the gates, there was already a massive queue of people waiting for the early bird goodies!

  • The Swag Game: They increased the goodies to 2,500 this year (up from 2,000 in 2025). It was strictly first-come, first-serve, so I started walking fast. Successfully grabbed my bag and sticker sheet!
  • The Insane Crowd: Previously in 2025, there were 4-5 registration desks. This time they had like 20, and the queue was still endless because registrations were 2x to 3x higher this year. Everyone was super pumped.

After getting my ID, I found the AWS SummitQuest QR code and registered. I called up Upasana (we attended together last year too), and we teamed up for some solid networking. I had breakfast, hit the expo zones, collected more swags, and met Pallavi. The 10 AM Keynote was mind-blowing. Around 10:30 AM, I bumped into Godhuli, who actually anchored our Kolkata Community Day and shifted to Bengaluru recently for work.

By 11:55 AM, I hit the Developer Lounge. I met student builders, AWS Heroes, UG leaders, and AWS employees. I spent the rest of the day there, taking cool selfies and pushing my SummitQuest progress to 76%. You needed 75% for the 4:45 PM lucky draw in the Expo area, though I didn't get lucky this time. The day wasn't over yet—at 5 PM, leaders from Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Pune gathered for tea and coffee. We went out for dinner, and I finally reached my room around 10 PM and slept by 11:02 PM.

April 23: Day 2 Madness and Final Goodbyes

I was even more excited and woke up at 4:50 AM. Reached the venue super early at 6:21 AM—there were literally only 5 people in the queue before me, lol! I heard a lot of registrations got cancelled due to overbooking, but still, twice the people attended Day 2 compared to Day 1. Luckily, I had a full conference pass valid for both days, so I completely skipped the registration lines.

Upasana and Godhuli couldn't make it due to work, though they had passes. I had my breakfast, explored the expo area, and managed to push my SummitQuest to 96% (just couldn't find those last few hidden QR codes!).

From 1:20 PM onwards, I was back in the Developer Lounge and spent the rest of the day there. I had some amazing, deep conversations with everyone about AWS and community building. At the end, the whole community gathered for massive group photos and selfies. Since many of the AWS Heroes and UG leaders had night flights, we wrapped up a bit early. I was back in my room by 7:30 PM, grabbed dinner from my favorite nearby store, and slept peacefully by 11:20 PM.

Looking back at the AWS Summit Bengaluru 2026, I can confidently say that it was an absolute blast. The tech updates, the insane focus on AI and Kiro, and the endless energy of the crowd were brilliant.
But what really made this trip unforgettable was the community. Meeting familiar faces, making new friends, and sharing knowledge offline is an experience no online tutorial can ever replace. If you are sitting on the fence about attending a local meetup or a massive tech conference, just pack your bags and go. Step out, shake some hands, and watch your career transform!
