Hacktoberfest 2026 at LPU: A Community Recap
A recap of Hacktoberfest 2026 at LPU, where developers came together to explore open source, share knowledge, and build connections.
On October 23, 2026, the AWS Student Builder Group at Lovely Professional University (LPU), Phagwara, hosted a Hacktoberfest community event, bringing developers together for a day of open source, technical discussions, and collaboration.
As one of the organizers, I got to experience the event beyond the sessions and activities — from the work that goes into planning and coordination to seeing the community come together around a shared passion for technology.
A Day of Learning and Building
Hacktoberfest is about encouraging developers to explore open source, contribute to projects, and learn from the global developer community.
Our event brought that spirit to LPU through technical sessions, discussions, and opportunities to explore the developer ecosystem.
From building in the age of AI to the journey from code to cloud, the sessions encouraged attendees to think about how technologies and developer tools are being used to solve real-world problems.
The contribution sprint also gave participants an opportunity to explore open source beyond tutorials and discover how they could get involved.
The People Who Made It Happen
A special thanks to AWS Community Builder Akaash Tripathee for joining us as a speaker and sharing his insights with the community. Learning from industry professionals and hearing about their experiences adds a valuable perspective to the student developer journey.
I'm equally grateful to the entire AWS Student Builder Group at LPU team for the effort they put into planning, coordinating, and executing the event. There's a lot that happens behind the scenes, and bringing everything together takes a team willing to put in the work.
And to everyone who attended, participated, asked questions, and contributed to the energy of the day - thank you for being part of the experience.
Reflections from an Organizer
Organizing a developer event is a different kind of learning experience.
Beyond the technical side, it involves planning, coordination, problem-solving, and adapting when things don't go exactly as expected. It teaches you to work with people, make decisions, and turn an idea into an experience others can be part of.
For me, Hacktoberfest was another opportunity to learn through execution while contributing to the developer community at LPU.
It also reinforced something important: building a strong developer community isn't just about hosting events. It's about creating opportunities for people to connect, exchange ideas, explore technologies, and keep building long after the event ends.
What's Next?
Hacktoberfest 2026 was a memorable milestone for our community, but there's plenty more to do.
Through AWS Student Builder Group at LPU, we hope to continue creating opportunities for students to explore cloud technologies, collaborate on projects, learn from experienced developers, and become active participants in the broader tech ecosystem.
Every event gives us something new to learn and something to build upon.
Here's to more builders, more open source, and more ideas turned into reality.
Keep building. Keep contributing. Keep learning.
