Cloud Economics and Billing
This is the continuation of my AWS Cloud Foundation learning track.
- Fundamentals of Pricing
There are three fundamental drivers of cost with AWS: the compute, storage and outbound data transfer. Outbound data transfer is aggregated across services and then charged at the outbound data transfer rates.
How can one pay for AWS
You pay for what you use .
You pay less when you reserve.
You pay less by using more.
There are some AWS services that does not have any charge attached to it:
Amazon Virtual Private Cloud
AWS IAM
AWS Elastic Beanstalk
AWS CloudFormation
Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
This is the financial estimate to help identify direct and indirect cost of a system .
TCO is used to compare the cost of running an entire infrastructure or specific workload on premises versus in AWS
AWS Pricing Calculator
It is a feature in AWS that allows one to estimate cost and make better financial decisions for a company
There are other things contained in this AWS feature like the AWS organizations which is a free account management service that you use to create and consolidate multiple AWS accounts into an organization that you create and centrally manage .
This module taught me a lot about how one can pay for service rendered by AWS ,how you can track your bills and make sure to be able to make the right financial decisions for your company
