Building Cloud Computing foundation with AWS
Technology has always interested me, especially understanding how the applications and services we use every day actually work behind the scenes. As I continued learning software development, I realized that writing code was only one part of building modern applications. I also needed to understand where applications run, how data is stored, and how systems can handle many users.
This curiosity led me to start learning about cloud computing. That eventually introduced me to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and opened up a new area of technology that I wanted to explore.
Discovering Cloud Computing
My first step was learning about the fundamentals of cloud computing.
At the beginning, I had a basic understanding of servers and storage, but I didn't fully understand how companies could provide computing resources to developers without requiring them to own and maintain all the physical hardware themselves.
As I learned more, I discovered that cloud computing allows users to access computing resources such as servers, storage, databases, networking, and other services over the internet.
One of the things that caught my attention was the idea of being able to access computing resources when they are needed instead of having to build and maintain a physical infrastructure from scratch.
Learning these fundamentals helped me understand the technology behind many of the applications and services we use every day.
Advantages of Cloud Computing
After understanding what cloud computing was, I became interested in understanding why organizations use it.
One of the major advantages I learned about was scalability. Applications can require different amounts of resources depending on the number of users or the amount of traffic they receive. Cloud computing makes it possible to increase or decrease resources based on those requirements.
I also learned about cost efficiency. Instead of purchasing large amounts of physical hardware before starting a project, organizations can use cloud resources according to their needs.
Another important advantage is flexibility. Developers can access computing resources and services without having to build an entire physical infrastructure themselves. This can make it easier to experiment, develop applications, and deploy solutions.
I also learned about availability and reliability, which are important when building applications that users depend on.
Understanding these advantages made me realize that cloud computing is not simply about moving applications to the internet. It provides an approach to building and managing technology infrastructure in a more flexible and scalable way.
Introduction to AWS
After gaining an understanding of cloud computing and its advantages, I began learning about Amazon Web Services (AWS).
AWS introduced me to the practical side of cloud computing. Instead of only learning the concepts theoretically, I could start seeing how different cloud services are designed to solve specific problems.
I was introduced to services such as Amazon EC2, which provides scalable computing capacity, and Amazon S3, which provides object storage.
As I continued exploring AWS, I also became interested in areas such as databases, networking, security, and application deployment.
What stood out to me was the wide range of services available. I realized that AWS provides much more than just virtual servers. It offers services that can support different parts of an application and its infrastructure.
This helped me connect the concepts I had learned about cloud computing with technologies that can actually be used to build real-world solutions.
