I m now AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate!

I passed the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA-C03) exam! Here's why I took it, how I prepared, what the exam covers, and my tips for anyone planning to take it.

🔗 Verify: https://aws.amazon.com/verification — Validation No. de29df2919594b45953bfa833de68570,
I'm excited to share that I've officially earned the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification!
Certified on October 14, 2026, this milestone marks an important step in my cloud journey, and I'd like to share my experience to help others preparing for the same exam.

Why I Chose This Certification

The Solutions Architect – Associate certification is one of the most recognized cloud credentials in the industry. It validates the ability to design secure, resilient, high-performing, and cost-optimized architectures on AWS. I wanted to go beyond using individual services and understand how they fit together to solve real-world problems.

What the Exam Covers

The SAA-C03 exam is organized into four domains:
  1. Design Secure Architectures – IAM, KMS, VPC security, Security Groups vs. NACLs
  2. Design Resilient Architectures – Multi-AZ, Auto Scaling, decoupling with SQS/SNS, disaster recovery strategies
  3. Design High-Performing Architectures – Choosing the right compute, storage, database, and caching options (EC2, Lambda, S3, EBS, EFS, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, CloudFront)
  4. Design Cost-Optimized Architectures – Purchasing options, storage tiers, right-sizing
The questions are scenario-based. You rarely get asked "what is X?". Instead you're asked "which solution BEST meets these requirements?", so understanding trade-offs is key.

How I Prepared

  • [Course you used, e.g. AWS Skill Builder / a video course] to build a strong foundation
  • Hands-on practice in the AWS Console: building VPCs, launching EC2 instances behind load balancers, configuring S3 lifecycle policies, and experimenting with Lambda
  • Practice exams to get used to the question style and find my weak areas
  • AWS Whitepapers and FAQs, especially the AWS Well-Architected Framework
  • Total preparation time: [e.g. 6–8 weeks]

My Tips for Future Candidates

  1. Learn the "why," not just the "what." Know when to choose SQS over SNS, or Aurora over DynamoDB.
  2. Watch for keywords in questions: "most cost-effective," "least operational overhead," "highly available". They point you to the right answer.
  3. Get hands-on. Building things yourself makes concepts stick far better than reading.
  4. Master networking basics. VPC, subnets, route tables, NAT gateways, and VPC endpoints come up often.
  5. Take full-length practice tests under timed conditions (130 minutes, 65 questions).
  6. Use the Well-Architected Framework as your mental model for every question.

What's Next?

This certification is just the beginning. Next, I plan to [e.g. build real-world projects on AWS / pursue the AWS Certified Developer – Associate or Solutions Architect – Professional] and keep growing as a cloud builder.

Thank You

A big thank you to the AWS community, the educators who share their knowledge for free, and everyone who supported me along the way.
