I Started Learning AWS — Here Are 5 Things I Wish I Knew Earlier

Learning AWS can feel confusing at first. Here are five lessons that helped me understand cloud computing better and that might help other beginners start their journey.

When I first started learning AWS, I thought cloud computing was all about launching servers and writing code. But as I explored more, I realized there is much more to it.
Here are five things I wish I had known earlier:
1. Understand the basics first
Before jumping into advanced services, understand what cloud computing is and why businesses use it.
2. Learn the core AWS services
Start with Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, AWS IAM, and Amazon VPC. These services help you understand compute, storage, access management, and networking.
3. Practice instead of only watching videos
Reading documentation is useful, but creating a small project helps you remember concepts much better.
4. Learn IAM and security early
Understanding permissions and the principle of least privilege is essential when working with cloud resources.
5. Build projects and document your learning
Even a small project can help you explain what you learned and demonstrate your skills.
My biggest takeaway is simple: you don't need to learn everything in one day. Consistency matters more than speed.
Question for the community: If you could give one piece of advice to someone starting AWS today, what would it be?
