Building My Future in Tech Step by Step

Hello, my name is Juliana Freire and I am an Information Systems student at UnDF. At this stage of my student life, my biggest challenge has been preparing for the job market and building a community at my university. Being a woman studying technology is already a tough journey. We often feel insecure about our place in a field and doubt our abilities when looking at internship opportunities.

 

I needed to overcome that fear and find people who were going through the same journey and striving for growth. That was exactly when AWS Builder Center and student verification changed everything for me. The community helped me realize that learning doesn't have to be a lonely process. These friendships gave me the support I needed. What completely changed how I viewed my challenge was the clarity of the learning paths. I started with the AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials course, which gave me the foundation of cloud computing, which is basically accessing servers over the internet. From there, I was guided to learn databases in a simple way with Amazon DynamoDB Service Introduction, Amazon DynamoDB Service Primer, and Amazon Aurora MySQL - Basics.

 

Later, I advanced to artificial intelligence by completing the AWS SimuLearn: AI Practitioner plan and the AWS SimuLearn: Build a GenAI Knowledge Assistant lab. Having this clear, practical guidance can make a meaningful difference in any university student's professional development. Throughout our academic year, verification rewards are essential for us to leverage emerging opportunities. Upon completing my verification, I received one year of access to AWS Skill Builder Premium, elevating the quality of my academic projects.

 

As we study and interact, we earn badges, which are digital progress medals. The system motivates us immensely to keep learning. At 7 and 14 badges, we earn AWS credits to practice in real scenarios without fear of making mistakes. At 21 badges, we earn a full voucher for the AWS Foundational certification exam.
