From On-Prem to DevOps: Starting the Journey
From On-Prem to DevOps: Starting the Journey
I begin my career on-premises: servers, networks, and keeping things running. Over the past year, I’ve started moving toward DevOps.
I’m now studying for the RHCSA, because Linux is still the foundation underneath everything. At work, I’m getting hands-on with Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, and GitLab CI.
The biggest shift hasn’t been the tools. It’s the mindset. Instead of fixing servers by hand, I’m learning to define infrastructure as code, automate repeatable tasks, and treat pipelines as part of the system.
My advice to anyone starting out: don’t throw away your infra background. Networking and Linux skills make the DevOps tools much easier to understand.
What was the hardest mindset shift in your DevOps journey?
