AWS Security: Are We Detecting Threats or Just Collecting Logs?

Building an effective SOC on AWS requires more than enabling GuardDuty and CloudTrail. By combining GuardDuty, Security Hub, EventBridge, and Lambda, we can correlate security findings and automate incident response. But here’s the real challenge: Should every critical finding trigger an automated response, or should we correlate multiple signals first to avoid false positives and business disruption?

Building an effective SOC on AWS requires more than collecting logs.
By integrating Amazon GuardDuty, CloudTrail, Security Hub, EventBridge, and Lambda, security teams can detect suspicious activities, centralize findings, and automate incident response.
However, automation introduces a critical challenge: responding too quickly to false positives can disrupt legitimate workloads.
Question for AWS Builders: Should automated remediation be triggered immediately after a critical finding, or only after correlating multiple security signals?
