A frontend student starting with AWS
I’m a Systems Engineering student from Peru learning frontend. Here’s why I decided to start with AWS and my plan for the next months.
Hi everyone! This is my first article here.
I'm Angel, a Systems Engineering student from Ica, Peru. For the last months I've been learning frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and now React and Next.js. Honestly, I always thought the cloud was something for backend people, not for me.
That changed when I started working on my own projects. I could build the interface, but then I got stuck with questions like: where do I put this site? How do I connect it to a database? Is it going to cost me money? I realized I didn't really understand what happens after I push my code.
So I decided to start learning AWS.
My plan for the next months
- Finish AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials on Skill Builder
- Play AWS Cloud Quest to practice (I like that it's more hands-on)
- Take the Cloud Practitioner exam
- After that, try S3, CloudFront and Amplify with my own frontend projects
Today I read a few articles here about hosting a static website on S3, and it was cool to see that a simple HTML/CSS/JS project can be online with just a bucket. That's probably going to be my first real practice.
I'm still at the beginning, so I'll try to share what I learn along the way.
If you're a student too, what was the first AWS service you used? Any tips are welcome
