Day 1: Starting My AWS Journey as a 4th-Year IT Student

4th-year IT Student from Cebu and an Aspiring Cloud Solutions Architect.

Aspiring Cloud Architect
Hi everyone! I’m Gerard, a 4th-year IT student from Cebu, Philippines, and today I’m officially starting my path toward becoming a cloud solutions architect.
Where I’m starting from
I’ve built a few projects in school: Noctra, a gamified sleep-routine Android app (Kotlin + Supabase) for our capstone, and TeknoyFix, a campus maintenance reporting platform (Spring Boot, React, Android). I’ve also done some hands-on AWS labs in class, including setting up a VPC, EC2, IAM users, and S3. But I’ve never deployed anything of my own to the cloud, and I want to change that.
Why I’m posting this
Writing in public keeps me accountable, and I’d love to learn from people who’ve walked this path.
A question for you: if you’ve passed the Cloud Practitioner, what’s one thing you wish you’d known before the exam?
