My First Week as a Student Builder: How I Earned 4 Badges
I share my journey of earning my first 4 badges on AWS Builder Center and tips for new student builders to get started quickly.
As a student, I recently joined AWS Builder Center and I want to share how I earned my first 4 badges.
When I started, I saw the Activity tab with many grey badges. I thought it would be difficult, but it was actually simple if you do it step by step.
Here is what I did:
1. HELLO WORLD Badge: I completed my profile - added my name, photo, and bio. This is the easiest badge and unlocks first.
2. Photo Badge: I uploaded a profile picture. This also helps others recognize you in the community.
3. Explorer Badge: I explored the Learn section and searched for topics like EC2 and S3.
4. Comment Badge: I started reading articles from other builders and left meaningful comments. I learned that commenting with 2-3 genuine lines counts more than just writing "great".
What I learned:
Builder Center is not just about collecting badges. It is about learning in public. When you comment, you learn. When you read articles, you get new ideas for your own projects.
My next goal is to reach 7 badges to unlock the $10 AWS Credit for students, and then 14 badges. I am planning to publish more articles and create polls.
My advice for new students:
- Visit daily for the streak badge
- Give 2-3 reactions daily
- Comment genuinely on articles you like
- Don't be afraid to publish your first article
Let's keep building!
