5 AWS Services Every Beginner Should Know

A simple introduction to five essential AWS services and how they are used in real-world cloud applications.

AWS provides many services for building and deploying applications in the cloud. For beginners, understanding a few core services is a good starting point.
  1. Amazon EC2
Amazon EC2 provides virtual servers in the cloud. It can be used to run applications, websites, and backend services without managing physical hardware.
  2. Amazon S3
Amazon S3 is an object storage service used to store files, images, videos, backups, and other types of data.
  3. Amazon RDS
Amazon RDS makes it easier to set up and manage relational databases in the cloud. It can be useful for applications that need structured data storage.
  4. AWS Lambda
AWS Lambda allows developers to run code without managing servers. It is useful for event-driven applications and automated tasks.
  5. Amazon DynamoDB
Amazon DynamoDB is a managed NoSQL database designed for applications that need fast and scalable data access.
Learning these services helped me understand how different parts of a cloud application work together. For example, an application could use EC2 for computing, S3 for storing files, and RDS for managing structured data.
For students beginning their AWS journey, experimenting with these services through small projects can be a great way to connect cloud concepts with practical applications.
