Drowning in AWS Services? Help Me Find My Way 🌊
Feeling overwhelmed by the hundreds of AWS services, I'm asking the community for tips on how to study each topic in depth without getting lost.
I've been exploring the AWS console and documentation, and I quickly realized something: AWS has a lot of services. More than 200, actually.
Compute, storage, databases, networking, machine learning, security, serverless... every time I open a new topic, three more appear. As a computer science student, I love learning new things, but I'll be honest, it's starting to feel overwhelming.
Right now, I'm trying to focus on the fundamentals: EC2, S3, IAM, and VPC. But I keep wondering if I'm going too wide instead of deep, or if I should follow a certification path to give my studies more structure.
So this time I would love to hear your advice:
- How did you decide what to learn first? Did you follow a certification, a project, or your job's needs?
- How do you go deep on a single service without getting lost in the documentation?
- What hands-on projects helped concepts finally "click" for you?
- Which resources (labs, courses, workshops, Skill Builder) were actually worth your time?
If you've been through this phase, I'd really appreciate any tips in the comments. And if you're also just starting out, let's learn together!
