Introduction
AWS Builder Center rewards consistency more than effort. It offers 21 badges for behaviors like visiting the platform, commenting, liking content, publishing articles, and voting on feature requests. The easiest path is to knock out the quick wins first, then start every streak early and let them run together.
Why it’s worth it
- Badges show on your public profile as visible proof of learning.
- Verified students unlock $10 in AWS credits at 7 badges, $20 more at 14, and a Foundational Certification exam voucher at 21.
The 21 badges
Quick wins (6)
- Hello, World!: complete your Builder profile details.
- Photo Finisher: upload your profile photo.
- Knowledge Seeker: read 10 articles.
- Discussion Debut: leave your first comment on a community article.
- First Wish: submit your first Wish, after checking that the idea isn’t already listed.
- First Article: publish your first useful article.
Streak badges (11)
- 7-day, 30-day, and 90-day streaks for Visit, Like, and Comment (9 badges).
- 4-Week Wish Vote Streak: vote on Wishes once a week for 4 weeks.
- 4-Week Article Publishing Streak: publish one article a week for 4 weeks.
Community engagement (4)
- These track replies, Wish votes, and comments or articles that earn 10+ likes.
- Community posts mention Idea Influencer, Conversation Starter, and Valued Creator.
The easiest strategy
- Day 1: finish the quick wins and start all three streaks.
- Daily (10 minutes): visit, read one article, like what helped you, leave a specific comment.
- Weekly: publish one short article and vote on a Wish. Write about what you’re already learning.
- By day 90, all three long streaks complete. Missing a single day resets a streak badge, so treat it like a habit tracker.
- Check your Badges tab regularly to see what’s left.
What you get after all 21
- A $100 voucher for an introductory exam, such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AI Practitioner.
- Before that, the $30 in credits from the 7 and 14 badge milestones.
- Verified students also get 12 months of premium Skill Builder access, 900+ courses and labs, once they verify enrollment and complete their profile.
- AWS puts the total potential value at $579 per student.
- A profile full of real articles, comments, and Wishes that works as a portfolio.
Tips
- Keep comments specific. “Great article!” adds nothing.
- Use one Builder ID throughout.
- Rewards are for verified higher-ed students. Others can still earn the badges.
