Building and Deploying SolNet AI: Next.js Cloud Hosting & Smart IoT Security Integration

A technical breakdown of building and deploying SolNet AI—a Next.js web application hosted on AWS Amplify. This post covers overcoming CI/CD pipeline blockers (such as peer dependency resolutions and GitHub cross-account webhook permissions) alongside an overview of integrating our Smart Two-Wheeler Lock System IoT hardware setup for real-time security telemetry.

1. Executive Summary & Problem Statement

In the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence, developers face a persistent challenge: bridging the gap between complex AI logic and intuitive, real-time web interfaces. Many AI projects remain locked in local notebooks or unoptimized prototypes because deploying full-stack, responsive AI interfaces to cloud production presents severe configuration and performance bottlenecks.
To address this, we engineered SolNet AI—a high-performance web platform designed to streamline interactive, decentralized AI workflows. Built with Next.js and deployed on AWS Amplify, SolNet AI delivers modern web capabilities, real-time responsiveness, and full cloud automation.

2. Technical Architecture & Stack

SolNet AI was architected from the ground up to prioritize speed, type safety, and scalability:
  • Frontend Engine: Next.js (App Router, TypeScript) for server-side rendering, fast dynamic routing, and strict compile-time safety.
  • User Interface & UX: Tailwind CSS paired with modern UI component libraries to deliver a responsive, dark-mode visual interface optimized for complex workflows.
  • Cloud Infrastructure & Hosting: AWS Amplify, providing continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), global CDN distribution, and managed SSL certification.
  • Version Control & Pipeline: GitHub integration driving automated branch deployments on every push.

3. Engineering Challenges & CI/CD Solutions

Shipping a production-ready application during a competitive hackathon requires solving real-world infrastructure blockers quickly. During our deployment phase on AWS Amplify, we encountered and overcome two critical production challenges:

Challenge 1: Resolving Deep Peer Dependency Mismatches

Modern Next.js ecosystems utilizing bleeding-edge UI components can trigger strict package manager conflicts ( npm ERR! code ERESOLVE ) during automated cloud build steps.
  • Engineering Solution: We customized our AWS Amplify build configuration ( amplify.yml ) to handle peer dependency resolutions gracefully during the pre-build phase:

- npm install --legacy-peer-deps

commands:
- npm run build

Challenge 2: Cross-Account Webhook & Permission Handshakes

Connecting multi-developer GitHub organizations across restricted cloud environments can result in  403 Forbidden  webhook authentication failures.
  • Engineering Solution: By establishing explicit admin access grants and configuring personal access tokens across organizational accounts, we unlocked automated triggers—ensuring seamless integration directly from our primary  main  branch.

4. Key Innovation & Value Proposition

  1. Zero-Downtime Deployment Pipeline: Every code update committed to our core repository triggers an automated, multi-stage AWS build pipeline, ensuring judges and end-users always access the latest production build.
  1. Optimized Frontend Performance: Utilizing Next.js route handlers and client-side rendering optimizations ensures rapid page load times and minimal latency during user interactions.
  1. Production-Ready Scalability: Leveraging AWS Amplify's managed infrastructure eliminates server management overhead, allowing the application to scale seamlessly under high user traffic.

5. Conclusion & Future Roadmap

SolNet AI demonstrates how modern frontend frameworks combined with AWS cloud automation can transform complex AI interfaces into accessible, production-ready web platforms. Future iterations will focus on expanding real-time streaming capabilities and integrating deeper telemetry analytics directly into the AWS cloud dashboard.
