🌧️ Introducing AQUILOOP — AI-Powered Environmental Resilience Platform 🌱
What if we could turn rainfall forecasts into action, coordinate community-led waste cleanup, and give agricultural residue a productive second life?
That’s the idea behind AQUILOOP, a project I independently conceptualized, built, and deployed during the Environmental Hacks hackathon.
🌍 What does AQUILOOP do?
🔹 MONSOONLOOP — Predict → Act → Verify → Measure Impact
Monitors rainfall forecasts, highlights potential waterlogging risks, and helps municipal teams prioritize locations, dispatch field workers, track tasks, and verify completed work using before-and-after photo evidence.
🔹 Flood & Waste Bounties
Enables operators to publish cleanup tasks that community members and waste collectors can claim. AI-assisted image analysis supports evidence review, while operators retain final approval. Verified contributions can earn in-platform ARC credits.
🔹 Stubble-to-Water Exchange
Connects farmers with potential agricultural residue buyers, including biomass processors and bioenergy businesses. The goal is to create alternative uses for crop residue, provide farmers with potential additional income, and reduce reliance on open-field burning.
☁️ How I used AWS
I built and deployed AQUILOOP using:
- AWS Amplify Gen 2 & Amplify Hosting
- Amazon Cognito for authentication
- AWS AppSync (GraphQL) for APIs and real-time updates
- Amazon DynamoDB for application data
- Amazon S3 for evidence storage
- AWS Lambda & Amazon EventBridge for scheduled weather-data ingestion
- Amazon Rekognition for AI-assisted image analysis
I also requested Amazon Bedrock quota to explore foundation-model integration. AWS granted the quota, but the limited hackathon timeline meant I couldn't complete and thoroughly test that integration.
🛠️ Built independently: From architecture and UI development to AWS integration, testing, debugging, and deployment, I handled the complete development lifecycle as a solo developer.
🔗 Explore AQUILOOP
AQUILOOP is a step toward making environmental action more coordinated, accountable, and measurable. The platform demonstrates the workflows; broader government adoption, funded reward programs, and drought-time water assistance would require future partnerships.
