I Passed the AWS Solutions Architect Exam: Lessons from My Journey
I passed the AWS Solutions Architect exam! Here's a look back at my preparation, the lessons I learned, and how I plan to build on this milestone through practical cloud engineering.
I'm happy to share that I passed the AWS Solutions Architect exam! When I shared my preparation journey, my goal was to document the process and stay focused on understanding AWS services and how they work together in real-world architectures. I'm glad to share that the effort paid off.
What Helped Me Prepare
My preparation involved watching learning videos on AWS Skill Builder, reviewing the exam domains, and practising exam questions. These activities helped me become more familiar with AWS services, architectural principles, and the kinds of decisions a solutions architect needs to make. One important lesson I learned is that preparing for this exam requires more than memorizing service definitions. You need to understand why one solution is more suitable than another, considering factors such as security, availability, performance, reliability, and cost.
What I Learned from the Experience
The journey reinforced the importance of consistency and understanding concepts rather than simply trying to remember answers. Practising questions also helped me identify areas that needed more attention and improve how I approached scenario-based problems. Most importantly, I gained a stronger appreciation for the architectural decisions involved in building reliable, secure, and cost-effective solutions on AWS.
What's Next?
Passing the exam is an important milestone, but I see it as part of a larger learning journey. My next goal is to continue strengthening my practical AWS skills, build more projects, and apply what I've learned to real-world cloud infrastructure challenges. To anyone currently preparing for the exam, keep learning, practise consistently, review your weak areas, and focus on understanding the reasoning behind each architectural decision.Thank you to everyone sharing knowledge and learning resources in the AWS community. I'm looking forward to continuing this journey and learning from others here on AWS Builder Center. One milestone achieved, with more learning ahead!
