Getting Started with Generative AI on Amazon Bedrock
Amazon Bedrock makes it easier to build generative AI applications using foundation models without managing the underlying infrastructure. Here’s a quick look at what it offers and why developers may find it useful.
What is Amazon Bedrock?
Amazon Bedrock is an AWS service for building generative AI applications using foundation models. Developers can access models from different providers through AWS and choose a model based on their application's requirements.
One advantage of Bedrock is that developers don't have to build and train a large foundation model from scratch. Instead, they can focus on integrating generative AI capabilities into their applications.
What can you build with it?
Bedrock can support many generative AI use cases, including:
- Conversational assistants and chatbots
- Text generation and summarization
- Question-answering applications
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
- AI agents that can perform multi-step tasks
For example, a company could build an internal assistant that helps employees find information from company documents. Instead of manually searching through many files, an employee could ask a question in natural language and receive a relevant response.
Why I’m Exploring Bedrock
As someone interested in generative AI and practical AI applications, I’m exploring how services such as Amazon Bedrock can make it easier to move from experimenting with foundation models to building real-world applications.
I’m particularly interested in learning more about Bedrock Agents, RAG, and how these tools can be combined to create useful AI systems.
This is the beginning of my exploration of generative AI on AWS, and I’m looking forward to building more hands-on projects with Bedrock.
