From Zero to Cloud: Starting My AWS Journey as a Student ☁️
Feeling overwhelmed by the AWS console? You're not alone! As a student stepping into cloud computing, I'm sharing my roadmap to master the basics (IAM, EC2, S3) and aim for the Cloud Practitioner certification. Read about how I'm using AWS Student Rewards to kickstart my journey, and drop your best advice for beginners in the comments! ☁️🚀
When I first looked at the AWS Management Console, I won't lie—I was completely overwhelmed. With hundreds of services ranging from EC2 to Bedrock, it felt like staring at the dashboard of a spaceship.
However, as a university student, I realized that understanding the cloud is no longer just a "nice-to-have" skill; it's an absolute necessity for modern software development. That’s why I decided to take the leap and start my cloud journey today.
My Current Goals:
- Master the Basics: I'm starting with the core trinity: IAM, EC2, and S3.
- Hands-on Practice: Moving away from just watching tutorials and actually deploying a simple web app using the AWS Free Tier.
- Get Certified: I’m aiming to earn my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner badge to validate my foundational knowledge.
I recently discovered the AWS Student Rewards program here on the Builder Center, and the free access to Skill Builder is an absolute game-changer for my study plan.
To the experienced builders out there: What is the one piece of advice or the one AWS service you wish you had learned earlier in your career? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments! 👇
