AWS IAM: The First Security Concept Every Beginner Should Learn

A simple introduction to AWS Identity and Access Management and why controlling access to cloud resources is important.

When starting with AWS, understanding security is just as important as learning cloud services.
AWS IAM (Identity and Access Management) helps control who can access AWS resources and what actions they can perform.
🔹 Users
IAM users represent individual identities that need access to AWS resources.
🔹 Groups
Groups allow us to manage permissions for multiple users together.
🔹 Roles
IAM roles provide temporary permissions to AWS resources without sharing long-term credentials.
🔹 Policies
Policies are documents that define what actions are allowed or denied.
For example, a policy can allow a user to read files from an S3 bucket but prevent them from deleting those files.
🛡️ Why IAM Matters
Following the principle of least privilege is important: give users and applications only the permissions they actually need.
For beginners, learning IAM early helps build good security habits while working with AWS.
Learn cloud, but learn to secure it too. 🔐☁️
