This photo was taken at AWS Student Community Day - Thane. This is not just a photo for me, it's proof that I moved from watching tutorials to being part of the builder community.

I am a student from Pimpri, Maharashtra. Like many students, I thought AWS was only for professionals and needed a credit card. This one day changed my entire perspective.

### What is AWS Student Community Day?

AWS Student Community Day is an event by AWS for students, run by the community. Students, AWS Heroes, and builders come together to share real projects, not just theory.

In Thane, there were 200+ students, sessions on Serverless, Generative AI with Bedrock, and career guidance. No sales pitch, only building and learning.

### 3 Key Learnings That Changed How I Learn AWS

*1. Stop Watching, Start Building in Sandbox*
We were shown the *AWS Builder Center Sandbox*. It gives you a real AWS account for 8 hours free every day without a credit card. I went home and deployed my first Lambda function on the same day. No billing fear.

*2. Serverless is the Best Start for Students*
Speakers explained why students should not start with EC2. Start with:
- *S3:* To host your website and store files
- *Lambda:* For your backend code
- *DynamoDB:* For your database
- *Bedrock:* To add AI features like ChatGPT in your app
You can build a complete AI notes app with just these four.

*3. Community is Your Biggest Shortcut*
I learned more in the networking break than in sessions. I met a student who cleared AWS Cloud Practitioner at 19, and another who is building his startup on Amplify. One conversation gave me my 30-day roadmap.

AWS (Amazon Web Services) is Amazon's cloud platform with 200+ services. Before AWS, you needed to buy a physical server. Now you can rent it for a few rupees per hour.

*Why learn it as a student?*
- *Jobs:* Every company - from Swiggy to NASA - runs on AWS. It's the most in-demand skill.
- *For Builders:* You can build and scale your app to 1 lakh users without buying any server.
- *For AI:* With *Amazon Bedrock*, you can use models like Claude and Llama without paying OpenAI in dollars. It's cheaper and secure.

My project after this event: I built an AI study assistant that reads my PDFs from S3 and answers questions using Bedrock. Cost? Zero in Sandbox.
