Lesser Known AWS Features — Day 14: AWS Compute Optimizer

Day 14 of my AWS learning journey: Today I explored AWS Compute Optimizer, a service I had heard about but hadn't explored deeply before.

When we create resources like EC2 instances, it can be difficult to know whether we are using the right instance size. Sometimes a resource may be larger than what the workload actually needs, while in other cases it may not have enough capacity.
AWS Compute Optimizer analyzes resource utilization and provides recommendations for improving the configuration of supported AWS resources.
What I found interesting is that instead of manually guessing whether an instance is over-provisioned or under-provisioned, we can use these recommendations to make more informed decisions.
This can be useful for performance optimization, resource planning, and cost optimization.
For me, the interesting part is that AWS is not only helping us create resources, but also helping us understand whether we are using them efficiently.
Have you ever checked whether your EC2 instances are actually sized correctly?
