Our Fourth AWS UG Trivandrum Meetup: A Full Room and a Big Announcement
Our fourth AWS UG Trivandrum meetup filled Travancore Hall with builders for sessions on scaling databases and production-ready AI agents. Here's a look back at the day, the people behind it, and the announcement we've been waiting to share.
Three months ago, we started AWS User Group Trivandrum with a small hope that builders in this city would show up, learn together, and keep coming back.
On September 26, we hosted our fourth meetup, and the response told us that hope wasn't misplaced.

Registrations closed at 300+, our biggest response so far, and the room was full. After a month online with our August session, it felt good to be back in a room together, with the noise, the tea breaks, and the conversations that only happen in person.
Once again, the Prathidhwani Technical Forum team partnered with us to make it happen. Having that kind of support from the local tech community means a lot, and we're grateful they keep believing in what we're building.
Our speakers set the tone for the day.

Sukan M, Lead DBA at Mafiree, opened with Scaling Databases on AWS: From RDS to Distributed SQL, walking through how database architectures evolve as workloads grow, from RDS and read replicas to Aurora and distributed SQL, along with the trade-offs that come at each step.

Kiran Chand, Sr. Technical Architect at Quest Global, followed with AWS Bedrock AgentCore: Building Production-Ready AI Agents, focusing on what it actually takes to move an agent from a demo to something you can run in production. The questions kept coming well after both sessions ended, which is always the best sign.
And then came the moment I'd been quietly nervous about all week.

We soft-launched AWS Community Day Trivandrum 2027, a one-day, community-led AWS conference right here in Trivandrum, on Saturday, June 26, 2027. Saying it out loud in front of a full room made it real. There's a lot of work ahead, and we'll be sharing more on the venue, speakers, and call for papers in the coming months.
None of this would have been possible without the team.

A huge thank you to Girish, Aftab, Manish, Hafiz, Chitra, and Nigda. As the meetups get bigger, so does the work behind them, and this team handled all of it with ownership and calm. I'm lucky to build this with them.
What stays with me after every meetup isn't the numbers. It's the people who stay back, the students who walk up to speakers with questions, and the first-time attendees who leave with new connections. That's the culture we want to build in Trivandrum: a place where builders help builders.
Our next meetup is planned for October 24, and if you've been thinking about giving a talk, this is your sign. We want more first-time speakers on our stage.
To everyone who registered, attended, spoke, volunteered, and supported us, thank you. If you were there, share your experience on LinkedIn with #AWSUGTrivandrum and #ACDTrivandrum2027.
See you at the next AWS UG Trivandrum meetup.
