AI Agent with Strands

Sharing what I learned while exploring AI agents with Strands Agents, including tools, hooks, skills, session management, and deployment with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.

I recently started exploring AI agents, and one of the things I found interesting was Strands Agents.
Before trying it, I mostly thought of an AI agent as an LLM with a good prompt. While going through the hands-on workshop, I realised that there is quite a bit more involved.
An agent can use tools to get information or perform tasks instead of relying only on what the model already knows. For example, a customer service agent can use a tool to check an order or get customer details.
I also explored things like hooks, skills and session management. Each of these adds something different to the agent and makes it more useful for real tasks.Another part I found interesting was deploying the agent with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Runtime. It was useful to see how an agent built with Strands can move beyond a local Python setup. The workshop helped me understand that building an AI agent isn't just about choosing an LLM. The tools, memory, workflow and the way everything is connected are also important.I'm still learning about agentic AI, but this was a good hands-on introduction to how these systems are actually put together.
