āļø Learning Amazon S3 ā Understanding Cloud Storage š
As part of my AWS learning journey, I recently started learning about Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service). Amazon S3 is an object storage service that allows us to store, manage, and retrieve data from anywhere through the AWS Cloud.
š” What I Learned:
š¹ S3 Buckets
A bucket is a container where objects such as files, images, videos, and documents are stored.

š¹ Objects
Objects are the actual data stored inside an S3 bucket. Each object has its own unique key (name).

š¹ Storage Classes
S3 provides different storage classes based on access frequency and cost requirements, such as S3 Standard and S3 Glacier.

š¹ Security & Access Control
Learned how IAM policies and bucket policies can be used to control access to S3 resources.

š¹ Regions
S3 data is stored in an AWS Region, allowing organizations to choose where their data is hosted.

š¹ Versioning
Versioning helps keep multiple versions of an object and can help recover data from accidental deletion or overwriting.

š ļø Practical Learning
I also learned the basic process of creating an S3 bucket:
AWS Console ā S3 ā Create Bucket ā Choose Region ā Configure Settings ā Create Bucket ā Upload Object
After creating the bucket, files can be uploaded and managed directly through the AWS Console.
š Real-World Example
Imagine a website that stores thousands of user profile pictures. Instead of storing all those files on the application server, the files can be stored in Amazon S3, making the application more scalable and easier to manage.
š Best Practices:
⢠Use IAM and bucket policies for secure access
⢠Avoid unnecessary public access
⢠Enable versioning for important data
⢠Use encryption for sensitive information
⢠Choose the appropriate storage class
⢠Monitor storage usage and costs

Learning S3 helped me understand how data is stored and managed in the cloud and how storage services connect with other AWS services.
Continuing my AWS journey with more hands-on learning and practical projects. šāļø
