The main EC2 instance types are:
.General Purpose: Provides a balanced combination of CPU, memory, and networking. It is suitable for web servers, application servers, and small databases.
.Compute Optimized: Provides high CPU performance and is suitable for CPU-intensive tasks such as batch processing, gaming servers, and scientific calculations.
.Memory Optimized: Provides large amounts of RAM for applications that need to process large datasets in memory, such as databases and caching systems.
.Storage Optimized: Designed for applications requiring high-speed and high-volume local storage, such as data processing and NoSQL databases.
.Accelerated Computing: Uses GPUs or specialized hardware to speed up workloads such as machine learning, AI, graphics processing, and scientific computing.
