Beginning My AWS Journey: From Learning to Building
Starting something new in technology can feel challenging, especially when there are so many services and concepts to explore. As a student interested in AI and Data Science, I decided to start learning AWS to understand how cloud computing can be used to support real-world applications.
Why I Started Learning AWS
AWS offers a wide range of cloud services that can be useful for software development, data science, artificial intelligence, and many other areas of technology. Learning AWS can help students understand how applications, data, and computing resources can be managed in the cloud.
Start With the Basics
When starting as a beginner, trying to learn everything at once can be overwhelming. A simple learning path could be:
- Understand the basics of cloud computing.
- Learn about commonly used AWS services.
- Explore the AWS Management Console.
- Try small hands-on exercises.
- Build simple projects.
- Gradually move toward more advanced services.
Learn Through Practice
Learning the concepts is important, but hands-on practice makes them much easier to understand. Even small experiments can help beginners become familiar with how AWS services work.
Some services beginners can start exploring include:
- Amazon S3 for storing and managing data
- AWS IAM for understanding users, roles, and permissions
- Amazon EC2 for learning about cloud-based computing resources
- AWS Lambda for understanding serverless computing
Build Small Projects
Projects are a great way to turn theoretical knowledge into practical skills. Instead of starting with a complex project, beginners can begin with something simple and gradually improve it.
For example, a student could create a basic website and explore how AWS services can be used to host, store, or support it.
My Learning Goal
My goal is to continue learning AWS alongside AI and Data Science. I want to strengthen my technical skills through regular hands-on practice and by building small projects that help me understand how different technologies work together.
Final Thoughts
AWS can seem complicated when you are just getting started, but learning step by step makes the journey much easier. For beginners, the key is to focus on the fundamentals, practice regularly, and gradually move from learning concepts to building real projects.
