Agentic AI with AWS

Exploring how Amazon Bedrock, Agents for Amazon Bedrock, Lambda, and Knowledge Bases can work together to build AI systems that can reason, retrieve information, use tools, and take actions.

Agentic AI becomes particularly interesting when an AI model is connected to the tools and infrastructure it needs to actually accomplish a task.
With Amazon Bedrock, developers can work with foundation models and build generative AI applications without managing the underlying model infrastructure. Agents for Amazon Bedrock take this further by allowing agents to reason through tasks, use APIs and services, and coordinate multiple steps toward a goal.
For example, an agent could use a Knowledge Base to retrieve relevant information, invoke an AWS Lambda function to perform an action, and then use the result to decide what should happen next.
A simple flow could look like:
User Goal → Agent → Knowledge Base → Lambda/API → Result → Agent → Response
What I find interesting is that this shifts the focus from simply asking an AI model a question to designing a system where the model can reason, access context, use tools, and take controlled actions.
At the same time, building reliable agents requires thinking about permissions, security, hallucinations, tool failures, monitoring, and when human intervention should be involved.
Agentic AI is still evolving, but services such as Amazon Bedrock, Agents for Amazon Bedrock, Lambda, and Knowledge Bases provide interesting building blocks for experimenting with these systems.
