Deploying function in lambda.

Deploying a Serverless Function Using AWS Lambda

AWS Lambda is a serverless computing service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) that allows developers to execute code without managing servers. In this task, a Lambda function is created and deployed on AWS to demonstrate serverless application development.
The Lambda function contains the required application logic and can be executed automatically in response to specific events or requests. During deployment, the function is configured with a suitable runtime, execution role, memory, timeout, and other required settings.
The deployment process involves creating the Lambda function, writing or uploading the function code, configuring permissions, deploying the function, and testing it using sample input. AWS Lambda automatically manages the underlying compute resources and executes the function whenever it is invoked.

Objectives

  • To understand the concept of serverless computing.
  • To create and configure an AWS Lambda function.
  • To deploy application code using AWS Lambda.
  • To configure the required IAM execution role and permissions.
  • To test the Lambda function using sample events.
  • To understand how Lambda can be integrated with other AWS services.

Procedure

  1. Sign in to the AWS Management Console.
  2. Open the AWS Lambda service.
  3. Click Create function.
  4. Select Author from scratch.
  5. Provide a function name and select the required runtime.
  6. Configure or create an appropriate IAM execution role.
  7. Write the required Lambda function code.
  8. Click Deploy to publish the function.
  9. Create a test event with sample input.
  10. Invoke the function and verify the execution result.
  11. Check CloudWatch Logs to monitor the function execution and troubleshoot errors.

Result

The Lambda function was successfully created, deployed, and tested on AWS. The function executed the configured code successfully without requiring manual server provisioning or management.
