Amazon ECS Deployment Observability: Understanding Rollout Health in Real Time
Learn how Amazon ECS helps you monitor deployments in real time, understand task and health-check failures, and troubleshoot failed rollouts using deployment observability, alarms, and rollback mechanisms.
Amazon ECS Deployment Observability: Understanding Rollout Health in Real Time
A container deployment can fail for many different reasons.
The new image may not start correctly.
A container health check may fail.
An Application Load Balancer may mark tasks unhealthy.
A deployment may not reach the expected steady state.
A lifecycle hook may fail.
Or an application-level CloudWatch alarm may detect a problem after the deployment has started receiving traffic.
The difficult part is not only detecting that a deployment failed.
The difficult part is understanding why it failed and what happened during the rollout.
Amazon ECS now provides real-time deployment observability in the AWS Management Console for native Linear, Canary, and Blue/Green deployment strategies.
This brings deployment progress, health signals, and troubleshooting information together in the ECS console.
