A practical first-week AWS routine for students
A simple, repeatable routine for learning AWS hands-on while keeping experiments organized and costs visible.
Starting with AWS can feel overwhelming because there are many services, consoles, and tutorials. A short routine made my learning more intentional.
Choose one outcome
Before opening the console, I write one small goal: deploy a static page, invoke a Lambda function, or understand an IAM policy. Keeping the goal narrow makes it easier to recognize progress.
Keep a learning log
After each session, I note the service used, one new concept, and one question to investigate next. This creates a record that is useful when revising for projects or certifications.
Review resources before leaving
At the end of a lab, I check the resources I created and remove anything I no longer need. I also review billing and Free Tier usage regularly. This is a good habit for every cloud builder, especially students experimenting with new services.
Share what worked
A small note, diagram, or code sample can help another beginner avoid the same confusion. Building in public turns learning into a conversation and gives the community a chance to improve the approach.
My next step is to turn this routine into a checklist for the services I study most often.
