Getting Started with AWS: What I Wish I Knew Before Day One
A beginner's honest take on starting with AWS. Three practical lessons that would have saved me hours of confusion when I was just getting started.
When I first heard about AWS, I assumed it was just "servers on the internet." Turns out, it's a lot more than that, and the learning curve is both steeper and more rewarding than I expected.
Here are three things I wish someone had told me before I started:
1. Don't try to learn everything at once.
AWS has 200+ services. The trap most beginners fall into is trying to understand all of them before building anything. Start with the core four: EC2 (compute), S3 (storage), IAM (security/access), and VPC (networking). Everything else builds on top of these.

2. The Free Tier is your best friend.
AWS offers a genuinely useful free tier for 12 months. You can spin up EC2 instances, store data in S3, and experiment with Lambda, all without spending a rupee. Use it aggressively before it expires.

3. Certifications give you a map.
Even if you're not sitting an exam immediately, studying for the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification is one of the best ways to get a structured mental model of the entire platform. It forces you to understand why services exist, not just what they do.

If you're just starting out, don't overthink it. Pick one service, build one small thing, and go from there.
What was your biggest "aha" moment when learning AWS? Drop it in the comments, I'd love to know.
