My First Two Modules of AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials: From Cloud Fundamentals to Amazon EC2
Starting my AWS Cloud journey has been an exciting learning experience.
I recently completed the first two modules of AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials, and these modules helped me build a better understanding of cloud computing and some of the core AWS services.
☁️ Module 1: Introduction to the Cloud
The first module introduced me to the fundamentals of cloud computing and the AWS Cloud.
One of the topics I found important was understanding the benefits of cloud computing. I also learned about the AWS Global Infrastructure, which helped me understand how AWS provides cloud services across different geographical locations.
Another important concept was the AWS Shared Responsibility Model. This helped me understand that security in the cloud is a shared responsibility between AWS and the customer, with each side having different responsibilities.
I also learned how cloud concepts can be applied to real-life use cases, which made the topics easier to connect with practical situations.
💻 Module 2: Compute in the Cloud
The second module introduced me to Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) and the concept of compute resources in AWS.
I learned about different EC2 instance types, how AWS resources can be provisioned, and some of the factors that should be considered when using EC2.
The module also introduced important concepts such as Amazon EC2 pricing, scaling, Elastic Load Balancing, messaging, and queuing.
One concept that stood out to me was scaling. It helped me understand how cloud infrastructure can be designed to respond to changing application requirements instead of relying only on fixed computing resources.
🎯 What I Have Learned So Far
These first two modules have given me a foundation in:
- Cloud computing fundamentals
- Benefits of AWS Cloud
- AWS Global Infrastructure
- AWS Shared Responsibility Model
- Amazon EC2
- EC2 instance types
- Provisioning AWS resources
- EC2 pricing
- Scaling
- Elastic Load Balancing
- Messaging and queuing
I am still at the beginning of my AWS journey, but these modules have helped me understand the bigger picture of cloud computing and how AWS services can be used to build scalable solutions.
🚀 What's Next?
My next goal is to continue learning AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials and gain more hands-on experience with AWS services.
I am particularly interested in moving from understanding the concepts to actually building small projects in the AWS Cloud.
If you are also learning AWS, which AWS service did you find the most challenging when you first started?
