My AWS Learning Journey: Getting Started with Cloud Computing
Starting my journey with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and exploring the fundamentals of cloud computing, core AWS services, and how cloud technology is shaping modern applications.
My AWS Learning Journey: Getting Started with Cloud Computing
Cloud computing has become an important part of modern software development, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) is one of the most widely used cloud platforms in the world.
As a Computer Science student, I recently started exploring AWS to understand how cloud services are used to build, deploy, and manage applications.
☁️ Why I Started Learning AWS
I wanted to understand what happens behind an application after the code is written.
Learning AWS helps me explore concepts such as:
- Cloud computing
- Virtual servers
- Storage
- Databases
- Networking
- Security
- Application deployment
- Scalability and reliability
These concepts are useful for students and developers who want to build real-world applications.
🚀 Exploring AWS Services
During my learning journey, I am getting familiar with different AWS services and understanding where they can be used.
Some of the services I am exploring include:
Amazon EC2
Amazon EC2 provides virtual servers in the cloud. It helps developers run applications without maintaining physical servers.
Amazon S3
Amazon S3 is an object storage service that can be used to store files, images, videos, backups, and other types of data.
AWS IAM
AWS Identity and Access Management helps control access to AWS resources by managing users, permissions, and roles.
Amazon RDS
Amazon RDS makes it easier to set up, operate, and scale relational databases in the cloud.
🧑💻 What I Am Learning
My AWS learning journey is helping me understand that cloud computing is not only about hosting an application.
It also involves thinking about:
- How applications are deployed
- How data is stored
- How users are authenticated
- How resources are secured
- How applications handle increasing traffic
- How infrastructure can be monitored and managed
Understanding these fundamentals is helping me connect my programming knowledge with real-world cloud infrastructure.
🎯 My Next Steps
I plan to continue learning AWS by building small projects and getting hands-on experience with different services.
My next goals are to:
- Strengthen my AWS fundamentals
- Build cloud-based projects
- Learn more about AWS networking and security
- Explore serverless technologies
- Understand deployment and DevOps workflows
📚 Final Thoughts
Starting AWS has given me a different perspective on software development. Writing code is only one part of building an application. Understanding how that application is deployed, secured, stored, and scaled is equally important.
I am excited to continue this journey, experiment with AWS services, and build projects that help me develop practical cloud computing skills.
This is just the beginning of my AWS journey. ☁️🚀
