AWS AI News Explained for Beginners: Amazon Quick, Amazon Connect, and OpenAI on Bedrock

AI is moving fast on AWS, and it can be hard to know what is actually new. Here is a simple summary of some recent AWS AI announcements, based on official AWS sources.

1. Amazon Quick: an AI assistant for work
Amazon Quick is an AI assistant for work that connects to the tools you already use and can take actions on your behalf.
AWS announced a new desktop app, Free and Plus pricing plans, and the ability to create documents, presentations, infographics, and images directly from the chat.
You can sign up using a personal email address or an existing Google, Apple, GitHub, or Amazon login, and an AWS account is not required. (Amazon Web Services, Inc. )
2. Amazon Connect: four AI solutions
Amazon Connect expanded from a single product into a family of four agentic AI solutions, each focused on a different area:
  • Amazon Connect Decisions — supply chain planning and decision-making
  • Amazon Connect Talent — hiring and talent acquisition
  • Amazon Connect Customer — customer experiences
  • Amazon Connect Health — healthcare workflows
Amazon Connect Talent was initially announced in Preview and later became generally available in September 2026. (Amazon Web Services, Inc. )
3. OpenAI models on Amazon Bedrock
Amazon Bedrock is an AWS service for building generative AI applications using foundation models.
AWS announced that OpenAI models, including GPT-5.5 and GPT-5.4, would come to Amazon Bedrock. Codex and Bedrock Managed Agents powered by OpenAI were also announced.
Since then, GPT-5.5, GPT-5.4, and Codex have become generally available on Amazon Bedrock. This means they are no longer limited to the original preview announced at the What’s Next with AWS event. (Amazon Web Services, Inc. )
4. Kimi K3 and prompt caching
Kimi K3 from Moonshot AI is an open-weight model available on Amazon Bedrock.
Kimi K3 supports explicit prompt caching. In simple terms, prompt caching allows reusable parts of a prompt to be stored temporarily, which can reduce latency and input costs when the same context is used across multiple model calls. (Documentação AWS )
What this means for beginners
You don’t need to understand all of these announcements at once.
If you are new to AWS and interested in AI, a good starting point is to learn the basics of Amazon Bedrock and understand how foundation models are used to build AI applications.
After that, you can explore beginner-friendly AWS learning resources and hands-on workshops to practice what you learn
