Introducing Polls on AWS Builder Center
Starting today, builders can ask the community a question, collect votes, and see results right from the Home feed.
Ask the community for their input with Polls on Builder Center. It's a simple way to ask the millions of builders in the community a question and get real answers. Create a question, add a few options, set a deadline, and let people vote. Results update live and the conversation happens right alongside the poll in the comments.
How to create a poll
Click the + (Create) menu and select Poll. Write your question (up to 255 characters), add 2 to 5 answer options, and choose 1 to 5 tags so the right builders find it. Pick a timeframe: 24 hours, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks (the default), or set a custom deadline between 4 hours and 14 days. You can drag to reorder answers. Hit Preview to see how it looks, then Publish.
One thing to note: polls can't be edited once published, so double-check before you post.
Voting
Voting happens right in the Home feed or on the poll's page. Pick an answer, click Submit answer, and results show up instantly as bars with vote counts and percentages. Your choice is highlighted. Votes are final. Comments work the same as they do on articles, so discussion sits right next to the results.
Results visibility
While a poll is active, results are visible to signed-in builders who have voted. Once the deadline passes, results open up to everyone. Anyone can browse a poll's question, answers, and comments without signing in. Voting and commenting require a Builder ID.
Votes are anonymous
Creators see aggregate counts and percentages only. Nobody sees who voted for what.
When a poll ends
Polls close automatically at their deadline (UTC). If you're viewing a poll when time runs out, an Ended badge appears and final results reveal live with no refresh needed. Notifications for poll activity are in your existing Content and Network settings.
We built this because we heard you wanted a quick way to get a pulse check from the community - whether it's which service to learn next, what topic to cover at a meetup, or how teams are solving a particular problem. Heroes, Community Builders, and User Group Leaders can use polls to engage their local communities directly on Builder Center.
