What

The Agents for Humans Hackathon is a virtual hackathon challenging developers to build AI agents that solve real problems for real people. Use the Ā Strands Agents SDKĀ  to build an agent that automates the stuff nobody wants to do, handles the work that eats your day, or helps a community that needs it.

Who

Open to developers of all skill levels, anywhere in the world (see official rules for country eligibility). Whether you're a student, hobbyist, indie builder, or working professional, if you can build with Strands, you can compete.

When

Submissions are open now through September 14, 2026. Winners announced October 14, 2026.

Why

AI agents are the next wave of how developers build software. This hackathon is your chance to build something useful, get it in front of judges from AWS, and win cash prizes doing it.

Tracks

Choose the one that matches your idea (you can submit to multiple tracks with unique projects):
  • šŸ  Everyday Agents: Build an agent that handles the things you keep forgetting (bills, appointments, grocery runs, life admin).
  • šŸ’¼ Professional Agents: Build an agent that takes the repetitive work off your plate (scheduling, follow-ups, reporting).
  • šŸ¤ Good Neighbor Agents: Build an agent that helps a nonprofit, school, or local organization that's drowning in coordination.

Prizes

$40,000 in cash prizes, plus $50 in AWS credits for every participant who submits.
