KiroCrew - First Time to Use
KiroCrew just released today. I tried it for the first time - an AI agent that runs locally, remembers everything, and even blocks me from doing stupid things.
Today is August 5, 2026 - release day for KiroCrew 🎉 - an AI assistant layer that sits on top of Kiro and gives it superpower: persistent memory, scheduled jobs, skill import, and more.
Let's see if KiroCrew is different.
What is KiroCrew?
KiroCrew is an AI agent that runs locally on your machine.
It connects to Kiro via KiroACP - the protocol that lets KiroCrew talk to the AI model, send message, get response, use tool.
The most important thing: it remembers you.
First Thing I See
The first panel I saw is importing setup from current tool. That would be great - I can import existing skill without any effort!

About the skills - it can automatically self-learn from the current session and create a skill to reuse later.

We have some security guardrails to approve and remove the action by default.

For example, I asked it to run the instance but the built-in KiroCrew guardrail already blocked it.

There are skills that are synced from Claude Code to KiroCrew - it is automatic.

One thing I really like is the kirocrew-core Memory/learning capability (
learn_add, learn_list, search_chat_history). When I asked it something, it automatically replied with context from before. I cannot show it here due to privacy.Slack Integration
The great thing about KiroCrew is that it runs on my local machine - it's like an enterprise version of OpenClaw. I can integrate with Slack easily with just a few configuration values to paste.

The special thing here is KiroCrew already has everything ready - we just paste. Owner Slack Member ID is a special field that allows only me to trigger it. If I add the bot to a public channel, I can sleep well (sleep well without worry) because no one can trigger it except me.

My friend tried to call this bot. Nice try. 😄

Use It From Anywhere
Even when I go out, I can still talk to KiroCrew via Slack. It acts as my agent - and the best part: it asks for approval before doing the next step. So nothing happens without my permission.

All sessions sync back to the KiroCrew dashboard. If I see a session I don't recognize, I can investigate it there.

Final Thought
KiroCrew is not just another AI chat. It runs locally, it remembers me, it works on Slack, and it has guardrails so I don't accidentally delete my production database.
Is it perfect? I don't know yet - it is release day after all. But first impression? Pretty good.
I will write more after I use it for a while. Stay tuned. 🚀
