AWS Builder Center - The First Year!

An overview of the evolution and growth of AWS Builder Center's first year.

Vice President and Chief Evangelist, AWS
We launched AWS Builder Center a year ago today. At the time my colleagues Channy Yun  and Matheus Guimaraes  described it as "..a new home for builders to access all builder resources, engage with the AWS community, and provide feedback or product suggestion to AWS product teams. “
After speaking with the team behind Builder Center and reviewing their launch trajectory over the course of the first year, I believe that we have delivered on all of our promises. However, even better, I strongly believe that we have created the developer-friendly hangout that the community has been asking for!

Builder Center Feature Launches

Let's take a quick look at some of the additions that we have made to Builder Center this past year, many of which originated with requests from the builder community:
Over the past year, 334 builders have submitted a total of 565 wishes for AWS. We have launched ten of them so far and another twenty are on our near-term roadmap including the highly desired mobile app, bookmarks, the ability to import an article via RSS, a student-focused learning experience, and better analytics for content creators.

Community Content

We hoped that developers would find Builder Center to be a great place to host their content and I'm pleased to report that this has turned out to be the case. Let's take a look at the top 3 community-authored articles from year one:
Leading the pack with 50k+ views, AWS Community Builder Dineshraj Dhanapathy  discussed Building an AWS Study Buddy with MCP + Strands Agents SDK . This post walks through the entire development process, starting off by setting up a MCP connection and building some custom tools, and wrapping up by creating a nice (and simple) interactive chat loop. Dhineshraj was kind enough to share his challenges and some key learnings, so be sure to check out his article.
Next up with 45k+ views, AWS Hero Chris Miller  wrote about Migrating an EOL Linux Server to AWS in 8 Hours with Kiro . This was more than just a technical story, it begins years ago when Chris built a site to support a friend's business, which grew until it supported the friend's family, only to reach end-of-life on a long-outdated server. Chris was able to migrate the site to Amazon Linux on EC2 in just 8 hours with Kiro with zero data loss, expending just 1,000 Kiro credits ($20) in the process.
Coming in third, with a very respectable 38k+ views, AIdeas finalist Yash Aggarwal  wrote about NeuroVoice, his AI-Powered Multimodal Neurological Health Companion . After opening with a detailed problem statement, his article dives deep into the architecture and implementation, and also includes detailed infographics, screen shots, and a demo video.
There are lots of other helpful and well-written articles, so be sure to check out the Builder Center home page  for more.

Fun Facts

We've been really impressed by the overall level of community participation. Here are a few fun facts before I wrap up:
Builder Center users have earned 99,226 badges since the feature launched in March 2026. That's over 1,000 badges per day. The most popular badges are Photo Finisher (about 47,000), Discussion Debut (21,000 or so), and Hello World (around 16,000). That's an average of 1.26 badges per user.
Since inception, 5,548 authors (3,843 community members and 1,065 Amazonians) have published 6,448 articles on Builder Center. These articles have racked up more than 10,473,349 page views.

Looking Ahead

We have a lot on our plate for the years ahead. As I noted above, we have lots of cool features on the near-term roadmap, and even more planned for later. We will continue to add features that will make Builder Center an even better home to our ever-growing community, and we will make sure that we host articles intended to help builders master the latest and greatest AWS services, developer tools, and development practices.
