PartyRock for Educators: Hands-On AI Fluency in the Classroom

Learn how AWS's free PartyRock platform enables educators to deliver hands-on AI fluency experiences where learners build functional prototypes to develop transferable skills - no accounts, cost, or prior AI knowledge required. Starting June 18, 2026, PartyRock officially supports learners aged 13+ in all educator-created events, bringing accessible AI literacy to middle and high school classrooms.

What Is PartyRock?

PartyRock  is a free, hands-on AI fluency platform from AWS where learners develop applied AI skills by building functional prototypes - not by passively reading or chatting with a bot. The platform runs entirely in a browser, requires no AWS account, supports 7 languages, and uses metered daily usage so there's no cost barrier for educators or students.
Since pivoting from an experimentation playground to a dedicated AI literacy platform in 2025, PartyRock has been used by 20,000+ learners across hundreds of events, reaching participants in 26 countries.
PartyRock’s mission is to democratize AI literacy by enabling anyone to learn through building. By creating solutions to their real problems, people develop transferable AI skills and insights - learning AI by doing AI.

🎉 Announcing: 13+ Support for Educator-Created Events

Starting June 18, 2026, PartyRock is officially approved for learners aged 13 and older in all educator-created events. This opens the door for middle school and high school educators to bring hands-on AI learning directly into their classrooms with the same privacy-first, no-signup experience that makes PartyRock so accessible.

How PartyRock Works for Educators

PartyRock's learning model is built around four core concepts: Educators, Events, Challenges, and Learners.

Educators

An educator is anyone leading a group that wants to develop practical AI skills. University professors, corporate trainers, bootcamp facilitators, hackathon organizers, community program leaders, classroom teachers, business developers, and Solutions Architects all use PartyRock to deliver hands-on AI learning experiences.

Events

An event is an ephemeral, private learning environment that an educator creates by selecting challenges from a curated library. Educators configure a timed event and share a single access link. Participants enter with a code, receive a temporary anonymous account, and land directly in the experience with no account provisioning needed. Events can run for multiple days.

Challenges

A challenge is a structured, goal-oriented task that guides learners through building an AI application to solve a specific problem. Challenges define the learning objective, provide constraints and starter context, and use prompt steering and antagonistic design to assist learners without solving the problem for them.
Challenge TypeWhat Learners Do
Flow ChallengesBuild AI generation templates to solve real problems. Experiment with models, parameters, prompts, prompt chaining, context, and tools to get results worth sharing with their group.
Analysis ChallengesWork with datasets and present reports explaining their AI-informed decision-making process, all using natural language.
App ChallengesExercise product thinking and design skills with vibe coding challenges that bring an idea to life. Learners leverage generated personas that provide structured feedback on their work. App prototypes built in PartyRock generate requirement specs that can be built out at any scale in Kiro.

Learners

A learner on PartyRock is anyone 13+ who has access to an educator-created experience. Learners join by entering a shared event code and receive an anonymous account automatically. The system assigns a pseudonymous display name (like "orange armadillo") and the learner lands directly in the challenge. They build, experiment, and present alongside their group - no profiles, no personal data required.
When the event ends, the account and all associated content is automatically deleted.

Privacy-First by Design

PartyRock was built with learner privacy at its core:
•        No participant data is sent to marketing systems, used to train AI models, or shared with third parties
•        Anonymous accounts with pseudonymous display names; no personal information collected
•        Automatic deletion of all accounts and content when events end
•        Content safety guardrails applied to all prompts and outputs

Teaching AI Skills That Transfer

While building a solution to a real-world problem on PartyRock, learners are exposed to:
•        How AI works: understanding models, parameters, and generation
•        How to direct AI: crafting prompts, chaining outputs, and providing context
•        How to evaluate AI critically: assessing outputs, identifying limitations, and verifying results
These skills transfer to any AI tool, chat interface, or integration learners encounter in personal or professional use, making PartyRock an ideal foundation for any AI curriculum.

The Session Format

PartyRock's format is designed for groups and accommodates a range of classroom settings:
1.      Introduction: A facilitator introduces the challenge
2.      Build: Participants build in parallel or in teams
3.      Showcase: Learners present what they built and discuss their approach
This structure works whether you have 30 minutes or 3 hours, and requires no prior AI knowledge from the educator.
