Why do we need EBS ?
Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) is a block storage service provided by AWS for use with Amazon EC2 instances. An EBS volume acts like a virtual hard disk that can be attached to a running EC2 server.
EBS volumes are primarily used when applications require:
- Persistent storage
- Low-latency access
- High-performance disk operations
- File system support
- Operating system installation
- Database storage
Once attached to an EC2 instance, the volume can be formatted and mounted just like a physical disk in Linux or Windows.
