Why Versioning is Needed in Real DevOps

The reson we need versioning:
  • deployment overwrites config files
  • engineer deletes logs accidentally
  • application corrupts uploaded files
Without versioning:
  • data may be permanently lost
With versioning:
  • old versions can be restored instantly
This is commonly used for: backups, rollback, disaster recovery, compliance, audit tracking.
