My First Experience Working with AWS as a Student – What Surprised Me Most
As a student, I expected AWS to be complex and difficult to learn, but my first hands-on experience showed me how accessible and practical cloud computing can be. Exploring AWS services helped me connect theoretical concepts with real-world applications and boosted my confidence in learning new technologies.
Initially, when I came across , I imagined that this term refers to a platform for professionals or those who have already gained work experience in the IT field. Names such as "cloud computing," "deployment," and "services" sound somewhat complicated; besides, they looked somewhat intimidating.
As a student, I was expecting AWS to be hard to master without certain programming knowledge. However, when I started working with it personally, I was pleasantly surprised by how different my experience was.
Firstly, AWS proved to be rather student-friendly: there are numerous resources students can use when learning, but experimenting with AWS made me understand that you can learn on the go.
The next aspect that surprised me was how strong the platform was. Amazon S3 and Amazon EC2 explained how sites, apps, and data can be stored on the cloud. Previously, I knew nothing except for theoretical statements. But thanks to AWS, it became possible to link this information to practical uses.
One thing that I loved was how interested AWS made me. As opposed to other topics, studying AWS does not mean just cramming some materials. I learned about something useful that people use in the industry on a daily basis. It made me feel confident in students' ability to start studying cloud computing without knowing all of its secrets.
Thus, one main thing I learned during my first AWS practice is that there is no need to know everything before starting to study. One needs to be curious enough.
For other students who want to try AWS but hesitate, my recommendation would be to get started right now. The more steps you take, the easier it gets.
