Building the Cloud of Tomorrow: Highlights from AWS Student Community Day Sanjivani 2026
By Soham Deshmukh, AWS Cloud Club Captain, Sanjivani COE & Bhoomi Raut, AWS Community Builder
Laying the Groundwork: Planning and Preparation
To make this event possible, our team dedicated more than three months to detailed planning. The agenda was carefully designed to offer something for everyone, whether someone was new to cloud computing or ready to explore advanced topics like AI and DevOps.
Our main focus areas were:
- Technical content, which involved working closely with industry experts to ensure each session was relevant and valuable.
- Audience engagement, which meant getting the word out, managing registrations, and making sure the event attracted a diverse group of participants.
- Logistics, which covered everything from setting up the venue and technical equipment to arranging hospitality for all attendees.
We divided responsibilities among volunteer teams early in the process. Assigning clear roles helped us stay organized and efficient, especially when things became hectic during the event.

Overcoming the Registration Rush with a Gatepass Solution
One of our biggest challenges was checking in over 600 students quickly, all within a -minute window. The process was even more complicated because students from other colleges needed to be verified at the entrance, which could have led to long delays.
To address this, we reviewed registrations in advance and created digital gatepasses for all external students. These digital passes were shared via email and WhatsApp, so when students arrived, they simply showed their pass at the entrance. Security could then check their names off the list, allowing everyone to enter quickly and smoothly.
Early Start, Smooth Setup
Our organizing team arrived at the venue as early as 5:00 AM to handle the final preparations. Tasks included setting up the stage, arranging seating, conducting audio-visual checks, and preparing registration desks and welcome kits. By 7:00 AM, everything was ready to go. As students arrived, they were able to enjoy breakfast and casual networking before the sessions officially began.

Opening Moments and Keynote Inspiration
The event started with a traditional Mata Saraswati Pooja and a warm welcome from our college leadership. This opening reminded everyone of the importance of cloud skills and partnerships between education and industry.
For the keynote address, Vishal Alhat, a Developer Advocate at AWS, inspired students to move beyond just watching tutorials and start building their own solutions. He shared practical guidance on beginning a journey with AWS and highlighted the many opportunities available in the field of cloud technology.
After the keynote, a panel discussion featured experts from AWS, EPAM Systems, and Sanjivani College. The panelists gave honest insights about what companies look for when hiring, the value of hands-on skills, and ways to stand out in the technology job market.
Technical Sprints Before Lunch
Before lunch, the event continued with three focused technical sessions:
- Bhoomi Raut discussed how artificial intelligence can be used to build intelligent, scalable applications and shared real-world examples.
- Rahul Shivalkar explained how AWS services work together to create powerful, scalable systems through event-driven architectures.
- I was able to share my own experiences and advice on building technology communities, as well as the career benefits of getting involved.

Handling the Multi-Track Challenge
After lunch, the event was divided into two parallel tracks. Managing the flow of over 600 attendees could have been chaotic, but we used data from the registration forms to pre-assign students to tracks based on interests and experience. This approach ensured balanced attendance in both halls.
To make navigation easy and enjoyable, we created colorful, interactive campus maps inspired by internet memes. These guides turned finding your way around campus into a fun adventure.
Afternoon Deep-Dives: Parallel Technical Tracks
In the Solar Banquet Hall (Track 1), sessions included:
- Ramandeep Chandna provided an actionable roadmap guiding students from absolute beginners to certified AWS cloud professionals.
- Tribhuvan Mishra delivered a comprehensive deep dive into building highly scalable Generative AI applications using AWS.
- Abhishek Maurya showcased practical, hands-on demonstrations of modern DevOps workflows utilizing Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
In the Seminar Hall (Track 2):
- Sankalp Paranjpe expertly explained the intricacies of modern cloud server architectures and essential cloud security practices.
- Himanshu Sangshetti clearly illustrated how to seamlessly orchestrate complex, stateful application workflows utilizing native AWS services.
- Ganesh Lad shared crucial, real-world architectural strategies for maintaining fault tolerance and high availability in cloud systems.
Celebrating Success
We made sure to recognize students who had earned their AWS Cloud Practitioner certifications by presenting them with special gift hampers. This public recognition set a standard for excellence and inspired others in the audience to pursue their own certifications.
Beyond Tech: Creating an Unforgettable Experience
The event was memorable not just for its technical content, but for its overall atmosphere and thoughtful touches. Attendees enjoyed the playful campus maps, delicious and well-organized meals, exclusive AWS swag and stickers, and game booths that encouraged informal networking and fun. The day ended with live music and a relaxing hi-tea, providing a perfect setting to unwind and connect after a busy day.

The Impact: Stronger, Smarter, and More Connected
Thanks to the dedication of 45 volunteers, the event finished right on schedule. We accomplished our main goals by strengthening the AWS Cloud Club, increasing awareness about cloud computing, encouraging hands-on learning, and helping students and industry professionals connect directly.
With new knowledge, fresh motivation, and a stronger sense of community, the future cloud innovators and aspiring cloud builders at Sanjivani are now more prepared than ever to lead and inspire. The journey to build the cloud of tomorrow has truly begun.
