AWS European Sovereign Cloud

AWS has announced the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, a fully independent cloud infrastructure located and operated entirely within the European Union. It is designed to meet strict EU requirements for data sovereignty, security, and compliance. This initiative is important for governments and regulated industries that need full control over data, operations, and legal jurisdiction within Europe.

Interesting to see which services are already available to use.
VPC - of course, the service is available, it's a main component for almost every setup. 2 availability zones are available
Bedrock - is also available, but with a very limited number of models. Amazon Nova Lite and Nova Pro. But without a Knowledge Base
Lambda - for sure is available and without support of EOL runtimes like NodeJS 18
And doesn't have Function URL available:
Unfortunately, CloudFront - doesn't exist yet, which limits us from deploying static websites behind CDN.
RDS is available, the same as DynamoDB, DocumentDB
S3 buckets are available with static website hosting functionality, which can help us until we have CloudFront
But what is interesting, "normal" AWS recommends using Amplify for the static website hosting
But in the AWS Eu, Amplify is not available yet
Storage classes are already available
CodeSuite services don't exist yet
  • CodePipeline
  • CodeBuild
  • CodeDeploy
  • CodeCommit
And IAM Identity Centre is also not available yet
Best practice tells us not to use static credentials,  but no options available
EC2 - Loadbalancers are available, even Classic LB is still here
EC2 instances, AMIs, EBS, and ASGs are available.
Nothing from ML was released: Polly, Rekognition, textract, Transcribe etc
As for the first day after release, it's a decent amount of services to use, the rest I hope will be deployed soon
What about other stuff?
ARNs are in the next format:
arn:aws-eusc:lambda:eusc-de-east-1:12345678901012:function:test
arn:aws-eusc:dynamodb:eusc-de-east-1:12345678901012:table/test
It's a typical format for ARNs, where aws-eusc - is a "partition", the next values are already exist:
PartitionUsed for
awsStandard AWS regions
aws-cnChina regions
aws-us-govAWS GovCloud
aws-euscAWS EU
