AWS re:Invent advice: run!

In between the sessions, swag and parties there's re:Invent you may have not heard much of, but you'll love. And it's on the move. And we can move together

Software engineer with love for building strong teams and communities
You may be surprised about what AWS offer during the five days of cloud Bonanza if it's your first re:Invent, but there's enough happening to easily miss what you're missing out on regardless of your count of hoodies and water bottles (if it's your first, you'll get the pun on day one).

It's people all the way

The key value of re:Invent is connection. Neurons build new links, businesses build new opportunities, you build new friendships.  My reinvent attendee guide  focussed on the session formats which will let you experience that.
You can go with your group to the House of Kiro (ACT022), CodeJams, even the AI League wildcard qualifier (I'm such a sucker for things with "League" in the name). You may party, hunt swag at the Expo, or take on the /dev/quest to win a bunch of sweet prizes.
Today however, let's connect through running. We meet on Wednesday at an hour that will make me question my Tuesday party choices, at the Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay for a quick breakfast and warm-up and then we set out for a 5K loop. We finish right in time for a brekkie and those few sessions that always end up being in Mandalay and you just happen to be there.

Let's run!

Here's how it goes:
  • Sign up: visit the Quirky Events Desk at the Venetian between Sunday and Tuesday to sing up and pick up your runner packet
  • Wake up: no going around this one, the run starts at 6:00 am on Wednesday
  • Get there: shuttles will be operating to take you to Mandalay Bay for the run
  • Pick your pace: there will be a choice of pace for serious runners, casual runners, and me. I aim to make it before the breakfast ends

My running experience

I don't run much but I have run at re:Invent and there's something amazing about it. I went with my DeepRacer friends, both the competitors and Amazonians and I don't remember the short sleep or being tired. All I remember is that I got the sweet number 1248 and that all my friends were waiting for me at the finish line, we made a photo together and went off for breakfast.
How about we meet and run together?
