AWS Builder Center Challenges

During each Challenge Period (defined below), submit an entry to the applicable Amazon Web Services  (“AWS”) Builder Center Series challenge and complete the requirements described below for a chance to win $1,000 USD in AWS credits, a feature on AWS Builder Center. By participating in the applicable AWS Builder Series challenge (each, a “Challenge”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and the AWS Builder Terms . NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

During each Challenge Period, submit an entry to a Challenge and complete the requirements described below for a chance to win $1,000 USD in AWS credits, an AWS Builder keyboard, and a feature on AWS Builder Center. Participation in a Challenge will require you to (1) have a builder.aws.com  profile and (2) describe your solution in the form of an article posted on AWS Builder Center that must include the applicable Challenge hashtag (described below). For the avoidance of doubt, no Challenge is in any way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with any social media platform.

To the extent that a participant uses an AWS account under the AWS Free Tier, the AWS Free Tier Terms  will apply. For the avoidance of doubt, you acknowledge that participants registering for the AWS Free Tier may be required to provide credit card information in order to complete their AWS account; however, such accounts will not convert to a billable AWS account, and AWS will not otherwise charge your credit card for any payments relating to your AWS account, without your consent.

Must be at least 18 years of age. Excludes individuals living in Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Philippines, Quebec, Russia, Spain, Thailand, Vietnam, Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, and the region of Crimea. AWS, employees of AWS, and their immediate family members and members of their households are not eligible to participate. Limit one entry per person.

The term of each Challenge (each, a “Challenge Period”) will begin and end on the applicable dates listed in the chart below. The end date and voting period ending times will be 05:00 PM PT.

Solutions submitted for a Challenge must be original works. Any code included in the solution must be publicly accessible (i.e., developed and maintained as open source software that is compatible with an OSI-approved license). In addition, the article submitted to AWS Builder Center must include a written description of the development process for your solution and demonstrate its working functionality through screenshots or video.

Judging Criteria:

All eligible entries received during the applicable Challenge Period will be evaluated, and the winner will be selected based on, the AWS Builder Center post with the highest number of total votes as of the end of the Challenge Period from users signed on builder.aws.com .

Entries that do not meet the requirements set forth in these Terms and Conditions may be disqualified in AWS’s sole discretion. Winners will be selected by the end of each applicable Challenge Period. Approximate retail value of each prize is $100 USD. AWS Promotional Credits are subject to the terms and conditions set forth at here . AWS Promotional Credits have no monetary value. AWS reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) for an item of comparable or greater value, at AWS’s sole discretion.

If you are selected as a potential winner of the Challenge, AWS will notify you via an updated article published to AWS Builder Center by the last day of the applicable Challenge Period. The prize will be credited to your AWS account at the end of each applicable Challenge Period. Failure to provide the requested information or to respond to communications about a Challenge within a reasonable period of time, as determined by AWS in its sole discretion, may result in the forfeiture of the prize.

By accepting the prize, you confirm that your receipt is neither prohibited nor inconsistent with any applicable laws, regulations, or binding orders, including applicable ethics or procurement rules, your receipt will not create a conflict of interest for AWS, and there are no ongoing competitive procurements for which your receipt of this benefit could conflict AWS from participating in the competition.

The following personal information will be collected by AWS for each Challenge solely for the purposes of administering the Contest and verifying participant eligibility: AWS Builder ID. Failure to provide all necessary personal information may result in participants’ participation in a Challenge being deemed ineligible. AWS handles your information in accordance with AWS Privacy Notice .

The article containing the winners list will be available here  for up to a year after the date on which the article announcing the winners was published. Acceptance of prize by the winner constitutes permission for AWS to use winners’ names or likenesses, and city, state or province, and country, if submitted to AWS, for any disclosures required by law, including a winners list, and for advertising and promotional purposes relating to a Challenge in any and all media now or hereafter devised, worldwide in perpetuity (or to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law), without additional compensation, notification or permission, unless prohibited by law.

By submitting your submission to a Challenge, you represent and warrant that your submission does not: (i) perform or promote activities that are illegal; (ii) violate or infringe the intellectual property, proprietary, or other rights of others; (iii) perform or promote activities that are offensive or disparaging in any manner; or (iv) cause harm to others or to AWS’s operations or reputation.

Each Challenge is sponsored by AWS. AWS reserves the right to cancel or modify a Challenge at any time and for any reason. AWS and its affiliates and licensors will not be liable to you under any cause of action or theory of liability relating to a Challenge, even if a party has been advised of the possibility of such damages, for (a) indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or (b) lost profits, revenues, customers, opportunities, or goodwill. In any case, AWS and its affiliates’ and licensors’ aggregate liability under these Terms and Conditions will not exceed USD $100. The limitations in this paragraph shall apply only to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
